I wish the United States would switch to the metric system. It's a rational system. There was talk about doing so back in the 1960s. I remember my teachers saying that the change was coming. Well, that never happened.
One problem I have, though, is Celsius. When we get a temperature at the freezing point in Fahrenheit, it's 32 degrees. Cold, but not too bad. In Celsius the same cold is zero degrees. Zero sounds awfully cold.
The weather forecasters say that by dawn today, we in eastern Pennsylvania will see our temperature drop to zero degrees Fahrenheit. If I did the math correctly, that translates into minus 18 degrees Celsius. I'd have to move to Florida if the temperature fell to minus 18 degrees.
With that in mind, I thought you might be interested in an alternative viewpoint. This is what a beach looks like when the sky is blue, the sun warm and bright, and the men naked. Enjoy.
